Public Input Hearings Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority's Proposed Rate Change September 4, 5, and 6, 2018 To Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority Customers: The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has scheduled public input hearings to receive public comment on Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority's (PWSA or the Authority) request to increase its rates for water and wastewater service. PWSA filed a request with the PUC seeking an increase to its water and wastewater total annual operating revenue of approximately $27 million per year, as of March 31, 2019. If the Authority's entire request is approved, the average water and sewer bill for a typical residential customer using 3,000 gallons per month would increase from $63.62 to $74.23, or by 16.7%. The PUC has scheduled four public input hearings, listed below. Members of the public are welcome to attend these hearings and provide comment for the public record. These hearings are an opportunity for you to present your views on PWSA's proposed rate increase to the presiding Administrative Law Judge, PWSA representatives, and other parties in the case. You do not have to be an expert to testify. Any testimony given, whether supporting or opposing the Authority's request, can be helpful when the PUC investigates the Authority's proposal. All testimony given under oath becomes part of the official rate case record.
