TOWNSHIP OF WILKINS PUBLIC NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT PROPOSED ORDINANCE NUMBER 1056 The Board of Commissioners of the Township of Wilkins will consider adoption of the following Ordinance at a public meeting to be held on the 9th day of November, 2015 at 7:00 p.m., in the Municipal Building, 110 Peffer Road, Wilkins Township, PA 15145. The complete text of the Ordinance is on file and may be inspected in the office of the Township Secretary at the aforesaid Municipal Building during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. Following is a summary of the ordinances: ORDINANCE NUMBER 1056: TITLE: An Ordinance of the Board of Commissioners of Wilkins Township adopting the Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance (LERTA) Program, providing for tax exemption for certain deteriorated areas within the Township, providing for an exemption schedule and establishing standards and qualifications for participants. SUMMARY: Ordinance 1056 creates a LERTA district which provides for the abatement of real estate taxes on the assessed value of improvements constructed prior to the termination date of the LERTA in an area recommended by the Planning Commission and approved by the Board of Commissioners. The abatement period is five years, with 100% abatement in Years 1 and 2; 75% abatement in Year 3, 50% abatement in Year 4 and 25% abatement in Year 5.
